Gruffalo Granny, the brand-new Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler picture book, and the first new Gruffalo story in over 20 years, hits our gift shop on 10th September. The very next day, be among the very first in the country to hear it read aloud at Battersea Park Children's Zoo!
To celebrate, we're hosting two special storytime sessions on 11th September, alongside a limited number of copies of the book available to buy in our gift shop from the 10th, and a life-size Gruffalo Granny cutout waiting for photos in the deep dark... zoo.
Plus Grannies visit free on 11th September!
Storytime Sessions - Friday 11th September
📖 11:30am: Little Explorers Session Perfect for toddlers, babies and their grown-ups. A cosy, relaxed reading with plenty of room for wriggling, pointing and shouting out your favourite bits.
📖 4:00pm: After-School Session Ideal timing for older children coming straight from school or nursery pick-up. A lively, interactive read-along for confident little listeners.
Both sessions are included with standard zoo entry, and free for BPCZ members.
Grannies visit free on 11th September
Visiting with Granny, Grandma, Nanny? They get free entry to the zoo on storytime day, the perfect excuse for a three-generation day out. Just visit the admissions desk on entry for grannies free visit! Other family members can still pre-purchase their tickets online as normal.

We've secured a limited number of copies of Gruffalo Granny for our gift shop, available from publication day (10th September). Copies are expected to go quickly, so we'd recommend arriving early or coming along to one of the storytime sessions to be first in line.

Gruffalo Granny by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler is a 40 page Hardback, suggested for ages 3–7 and priced at £14.99 RRP.
Julia Donaldson has said she hopes the new story will be as much of a treat for grown-ups reading aloud as it is for the children listening, which makes our storytime sessions the perfect place to experience it together!
