Rare Breed Chicks Hatch at Battersea Park Children's Zoo This Easter
25th Mar 2026
London's best-loved children's zoo invites families to meet its newest Easter arrivals, and hand-feed the pigs and rabbits from Saturday 28th March to Sunday 12th April 2026.
Following last year’s success, Battersea Park Children's Zoo is once again opening the doors of its much-loved Little Cheeps Nursery this Easter, where visitors can meet rare breed chicks everyday over the Easter holidays. There’s also a daily 2pm Meet the Chicks talk (and an additional 10:30am session on weekends and bank holidays), for a fun and educational talk about the chicks and life cycles that children won't find on a typical zoo visit.
Alongside the Little Cheeps Nursery, Easter brings two other special hands-on animal experiences - Guinea Pig and Rabbit Feeding at 11:30am and Pig Feeding at 1:30pm, letting children get up close with some of the zoo's most popular residents.
A full schedule of daily keeper talks runs throughout the holiday fortnight, covering otters, lemurs, capuchin monkeys and Scottish wildcats, giving families plenty of reasons to plan a full day's visit.
Beyond the animals, the zoo has packed the Easter holidays with activities for all ages, including and Easter Egg Hunt (£1.50 per trail sheet, includes a small prize), Easter crafts and games on weekends and bank holidays, including badge making and keyring making, face painting on selected dates and the popular adventure playgrounds with life-sized vehicles and sand and water play.
“We are so pleased to welcome back our rare breed chicks this Easter following such a positive response last year,” says Gemma Cathie, Education and Events Manager, “visitors get hands-on experiences with the chicks, plus the addition of feeding our pigs, bunnies and guinea pigs. It’s a fun and educational day out this Easter.”
