Celebrating Lizzy Humphries: A Well-Deserved Place in the blooloop 50 Zoo & Aquarium Influencer List 2025
21st Oct 2025
We are thrilled to announce that Lizzy Humphries, Senior Keeper at Battersea Park Children's Zoo (BPCZ), has been named one of the Top 50 in the prestigious blooloop Zoo & Aquarium Influencer List 2025! This recognition celebrates individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to the zoo and aquarium industry, and Lizzy's inclusion is a testament to her unwavering commitment to animal welfare, conservation, and innovation.
A Force for Change - The #ShareSavvy Campaign
As a senior keeper at BPCZ in London, Lizzy has established herself as a passionate advocate for conservation and animal welfare. She has been an unstoppable force, seeing the urgent need to address the issues of animal promotion on social media.
This insight led Lizzy to create something truly groundbreaking: the #ShareSavvy campaign.
The #ShareSavvy campaign represents Lizzy's innovative response to a critical challenge facing conservation today. The campaign tackles the concerning trend of social media content that inadvertently fuels the illegal wildlife trade, putting vulnerable species at risk.
The campaign has already gathered significant support from across the zoo and conservation community, demonstrating the urgent need for this kind of education and advocacy to help conserve species including otters and primates.
Excellence at Battersea Park Children's Zoo
Since her promotion to senior keeper in early 2022, Lizzy has become an invaluable member of the BPCZ team. Her impact extends far beyond day-to-day animal care. She has been instrumental in training new keepers and volunteers, consistently raising standards throughout the animal department.
Lizzy's particular expertise in animal training for husbandry and welfare has led to the development of a new training programme. This innovative system empowers all animal keepers to take ownership of specific species' training, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
"I feel so lucky to work with such a wide range of species. In most zoos, you have to specialise but here we get to work with every species. Being a smaller zoo means that we develop really strong relationships with all of our animals, and this gives an amazing sense of community between us as keepers and the animals," Lizzy says.
A Year of Recognition
Lizzy's inclusion in the blooloop 50 follows another significant honour earlier this year, when she was named runner-up in the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) Woman of the Year Awards. These accolades reflect the industry-wide recognition of her exceptional contributions.
Jamie Baker, Animal Manager of Battersea Park Children's Zoo, expressed the team's pride: "We are incredibly proud of Lizzy and her achievements. Her dedication to animal welfare and conservation, coupled with her innovative approach to training and education, makes her a truly deserving recipient of this recognition. We are incredibly lucky to have Lizzy as a member of the BPCZ family."
Lizzy's recognition in the blooloop 50 highlights the vital role that dedicated professionals play in shaping the future of zoos, aquariums, and conservation. Through her daily work at BPCZ and her pioneering #ShareSavvy campaign, she continues to inspire others to think critically about how we interact with wildlife content and how we can all contribute to conservation efforts.
We couldn't be more proud to celebrate Lizzy's achievement and look forward to seeing the continued impact of her work in the years to come.
Congratulations, Lizzy!
