Reporting to - Partners /General Manager

Permanent full time - 40 hours per week

Salary - £27,500

 

Role - Operations Manager is a new role at Battersea Park Children's Zoo

The Operations Manager is the senior permanent position at Battersea Park Children's Zoo
and is directly responsible and answerable to the partners and General Manager


This challenging role is to ensure the smooth efficient running of all aspects of the zoo business. The position carries responsibility for the administration of the site and includes the supervision and motivation of personnel with each section (animal/retail/education) to ensure visitors have a positive and enjoyable time during their visit.

During our intensely busy times eg school holidays you will need to be flexible to work some weekends and Bank Holidays liaising and rostered with other senior staff.


Job description

• Maintain a smooth and efficient daily operation
• Liaising with senior staff and management to create a good working environment
• Dealing with queries and complaints in a positive and professional manner
• Ensuring all emergency drills are carried out and recorded in line with our Zoo Licence requirements and conditions and Health and Safety Regulations for employees and the public.
• Deputising for senior managers when required.
• To be fully trained on usage of the tills including daily setting up and cashing up procedures.
• Arrange First Aid courses when required for staff.
• Liaise with Accounts Manager at Head Office.
• Liaise with Building Team and Animal Curator where necessary at New Forest Wildlife Park
• Arrange and chair regular staff meetings.
• Working with outside parties interested in holding events or promotions at the zoo
• Maintaining website and Facebook pages regularly

Gardener and Groundsperson

Part time and permanent

4 hours (morning preferable)) - 4 days a week including 1 weekend day.

Salary -£10,816 (DOE)

Reporting to Operations Manager at Battersea Park Children's Zoo


Role

Light gardening -including maintaining and and planting out the flower beds and tubs throughout the year.

Strimming edges , mowing and leaf blowing

Empty waste bins daily into bulk bins in service yard.

Light maintenance when required.

Reporting any maintenance work to Operations Manager

Keep all paths and other areas clean, tidy and litter free.

Retail and Catering Assistants

Battersea Park Children's Zoo is recruiting!

We are looking for friendly and pro-active people to join our Retail and Catering team.

Part-time and zero hours contract available, potential for full-time positions going into 2019.

Battersea Park Children's Zoo is a family run zoo based in the iconic surroundings of London's Battersea Park. 

Job Role

• Sale of tickets and souvenirs in our admissions and gift shop

• Preparing and serving hot snacks, sandwiches, drinks etc in the zoo café serving hot treats, snacks and drinks • Displaying shop and cafe stock • Providing exceptional customer service

• Maintaining the cleanliness and standards and the zoo's facilities.

• Ensuring the visitors of all ages have a positive experience during their visit.

• Liaise with animal keepers, education and events team.

You will be joining our small retail and catering team and will be expected to be involved in a variety of duties. You should be able to work under pressure during our busy periods. You should have experience handling cash and cards and you will trained to use our tills. Experience within a food service environment is an advantage and a willingness to learn is essential.

Please note Battersea Park Children's Zoo does not have a staff car park but public transport is available.

Retail and Catering Supervisor

Full Time - Permanent – 40 hours per week - weekends and Bank Holidays on rota.

Salary circa - £17.500 (DOE) Reporting to - Partnership Retail & Catering Manager

Battersea Park Children's Zoo is a family run zoo based in the iconic surroundings of London's Battersea Park.

Good public transport to Battersea Park - please note we do not have a staff car park


Job Role -

The primary role of this position is to ensure the retail shop and admissions at the zoo run efficiently and smoothly so our visitors have a happy experience throughout their visit.

The position requires you to work alongside the Catering and Retail Supervisor covering each other on days off etc.

You will need to have Previous retail experience essential to organise all aspects of our small gift shop and admissions.

The personality and positive manner to be a role model for our junior and seasonal staff in both departments.

Maintaining and overseeing the cleanliness of the zoos facilities. Rotating/displaying shop stock and re-ordering when required Experience in “cashing up” and use of tills.

Excellent customer service skills are essential to deal with our visitors and any arising complaints

An ability to work under pressure during our busy times

Awareness of all health and safety compliance requirements.

The ability to work as part of a small team co-ordinating with animal, education and event staff.

Some experience in food preparation and the importance/regulations of food safety.

An interest in running and overseeing coffee shop in the absence of the Catering/Retail Manager

An ability to encourage and train junior staff to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.

Experience in a similar senior position is desirable.
